Michael + Ashley: Pataskala, Ohio Wedding

A light breeze cooled the air Saturday afternoon as the guys stood out on the front steps of Pataskala United Methodist Church for group pictures. Michael was relaxed, smiling easily and enjoying the company of his best friends. Ashley was finishing getting ready in the basement of the church, putting finishing touches on her dress and slipping in to her blue flats. 

When it was time to walk down the aisle, Ashley and Michael were all smiles seeing each other for the first time.

Ashley is one of the sweetest people you will ever meet and has a great eye for details. She did all of the flowers for the wedding herself and added personal touches to the decor by making a lot of it herself. The entire wedding was simple and elegant- nothing too large or attention seeking. Everything was just right.

I absolutely adore these two- they have such a sweet way of interacting.

 

After dinner and some dancing, Ashley and Michael made time for a quick sunset photo session with me. I absolutely love it when couples choose to do this. Without an audience and with guests already fed, we had an opportunity to relax and explore the golf course and take more intimate photos of the two of them.

After the sunset photos it was back to the party. Michael and Ashley closed out the night with their best friends and closest family beside them - who could ask for more?

Michael and Ashley- thank you so much for having such a beautiful wedding and inviting Blake and I to be a part of it! We loved spending the day with you and capturing your love and commitment to each other! Enjoy the honeymoon- you guys deserve it!

Meet Spencer: Columbus, Ohio Senior Session

Meet Spencer. He's a great looking guy with a killer smile and a seriously kind heart. I first met Spencer a little over a year ago when I shot his mom's beautiful wedding up at Lake Erie. So it was a lot of fun meeting up with him and his family Sunday at The Ohio State University to take his senior pictures.

We started out at Thompson Library and wandered around The Oval for about an hour taking pictures as we went. I love taking senior pictures for one big reason- it always reminds me of what a dork I am. I played tour guide to Spencer as we passed building that, despite attending OSU for four years, I still knew almost nothing about. Spencer was great at playing along and feigning interest though.

I asked Spencer and his mom how they were dealing with the infamous "senior year" and they both mentioned that there might have been some tears on Michelle's part. I personally think that's the best part of senior pictures. For most guys, senior pictures are something you have done because it's required by yearbook and your mom. But for most moms these are pictures that capture a moment in time in your child's life- their appearance, their clothes, and hopefully their personality. My goal is to make the process as painless as possible for the guy and still get those great pictures for mom.

Spencer, thank you so much for spending the day with me! I hope it turned out to be a little less awful than you thought it would be! Good luck with the rest of your senior year and next year when you go off to college, remember to visit home a little more than you think is necessary.
